Tashi Pem
Senior Sustainability Specialist
Tashi Pem is a Bhutanese hydropower expert with extensive experience in guiding significant hydropower projects in Bhutan. She has held key leadership roles, including serving as the Chief Engineer at the Department of Hydropower and Power Systems, where she was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the 1200MW Punatshangchhu-I and 1020MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydropower Projects including developing Bhutan’s Hydropower Masterplan 2040. Her contributions extended to her role as a Board Director for Druk Green Power Corporation, Bhutan’s principal public utility company responsible for the development and operation of the nation's hydropower resources.
In addition to her work in Bhutan, Tashi's also contributed to hydropower projects in India and Nepal. Fluent in multiple languages, including English, Dzongkha, Hindi, and Nepali, she has effectively navigated diverse cultural and professional landscapes.
Before joining the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance, Tashi worked as an independent consultant in energy, environment, and climate change, collaborating with organizations such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
