Philip rogers
With over 25 years of experience which has covered a wide range of industries, sectors and countries, Philip has developed his professional career as an experienced environmental and ecology professional with academic qualifications including a PhD in Aquatic Ecology and is a Chartered Biologist with the Royal Society of Biology. Philip is currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia with SMEC International PTY Ltd and supports projects across the Indonesian Archipelago and South East Asia. Throughout his career, he has built up considerable experience with Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) reporting, and therefore is experienced with the wider technical environmental and social subjects. As a result, his work is often aligned to international safeguarding standards (e.g., ADB, IFC, World Bank) and subject to the rigours of independent reviewers and audits.
In addition, his aquatic ecological background especially in connection with hydropower projects has led him to develop skills with downstream environmental flow (e-flow) studies and is often integrating latest technical developments such as the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) with eco-hydraulic modelling. Philip has also conducted many Critical Habitat Assessments and Ecosystem Service Assessments and development of Biodiversity Management and Action Plans.
