PABLO BARANAO
Pablo is a senior environment consultant based in Santiago, Chile. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Catholic University, Chile. Pablo has more than 25 years of international experience in environment and social impact assessment, audits, due diligences, risk assessment, at both practical and strategic levels, mainly in the power sector with a special focus on hydropower and renewable energies. Pablo has led numerous successful social and environmental programs not only during preparation phase of projects, but also during implementation and operation. Pablo is a specialist in cumulative and strategic environmental assessments of hydropower projects, and has also been involved in critically reviewing environmental impact assessments and management plans to meet multiple international standards. Since 2012 as an independent consultant he has delivered many power contracts related to hydro, wind and solar power projects, transmission lines, as well as other infrastructure projects, for institutions including the Inter-American Development Bank, Equator Principles Financial Institutions and energy companies. Pablo is fluent in English and Spanish.
