Hydropower Sustainability Alliance celebrates first anniversary 

 

The Hydropower Sustainability Alliance (HSA) has marked the first anniversary since its creation as a new and independent organisation. 

The HSA was officially launched one year ago on 31 October 2023 during a special session at the World Hydropower Congress in Bali, Indonesia. 

compilation of the organisation’s first year highlights reflects on the various achievements and milestones passed during the last 12 months, including: 

  • The certification of nine hydropower projects in four continents 

  • Training 356 individuals to equip them with hydropower sustainability knowledge and tools 

  • Partnerships with three national governments to embed principles of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard in national policy 

  • Recognition as this year’s recipient of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) Global Award 

Governed by a multi-stakeholder Council, the HSA works to drive progress in hydropower sustainability worldwide through the application of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard
