Finance officer

Location: Fully remote, ideally aligned with Lisbon time zone

Salary Range: EUR 25,000 to EUR 30,000, pro-rata

Must-have skills: English proficiency and experience in Portuguese tax & accounting system

Schedule: Part-time (3 to 4 days a week), flexible working hours

The job

As the HSA Financial Officer, you will play a key role in organising our financial structure and systems. You will be supporting strategic decision making, directly reporting to the HSA Executive Directors.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Performing the basic accounting administration and bookkeeping such as registering suppliers and clients into accounting platform, recording financial transactions, conducting monthly accounting, preparing trial balance, management accounts reports, backup schedules and accounts reconciliation.

  • Compiling and inputting journal entries, accruals, prepayments, deferred income schedules and fixed asset registers.

  • Managing cashflow, raising invoices to clients, making payments to suppliers and ensuring bank reconciliation.

  • Compiling and presenting annual budgets, project-specific financial reporting and updating forecast schedules.

  • Liaising with the tax office and auditors as a first point of contact.

  • Managing payroll for full-time staff and providing monthly compensation updates to contractors/external consultants and checking if reports are correct and reflect updates.

  • Upload payments to currency broker for international payments (if it works out to be a cheaper method)

 

About you

We are looking for candidates with strong accounting experience that are as comfortable navigating the Portuguese tax and banking system, as dealing with international bank transfers in different currencies.

  • You should be ready to work with international clients in multiple currencies, as well as make payments and bank transfers with partners from different countries.

  • If you are interested in working in sustainability, international development, climate change or renewable energy, then this might be the perfect job for you.

  • Since the main language of our work is English, you must be fully proficient.
