A course designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and how it can be used to certify the sustainability performance of hydropower projects.

  • On successful completion of the course participants will:

    ✓ Understand the performance requirements of the HS Standard, including levels of international good and best practices

    ✓ Possess the skills and competences to support and manage an HS Standard assessment and certification

    ✓ Gain a professional certificate recognised by the HSA and the hydropower sector

  • The course is comprised of a structured training programme, group discussion, interactive activities and a final exam, all of which are designed to focus on issues commonly arising with hydropower projects.

  • The course content is tailored to fit to the needs of the clients.

    We encourage applications with all levels of knowledge and experience.

  • The rate for virtual trainings is 1000 EUR+VAT per participant. For in-person trainings, the rate is 1200 EUR+VAT per participant.

    HSA members are eligible for a 10% discount. This discount is also offered to members of the International Hydropower Association.

  • Certified User training enables you to undertake unofficial assessments within your organisation. You can also prepare an organisation for an official assessment to be conducted by an independent Accredited Assessor, as well as lead on assessment follow up activities.

    Accredited Assessor training enables you to provide commercial services using the Hydropower Sustainability Standard, most notably conducting official assessments for external organisations.

Gain the necessary skills and knowledge to become an accredited assessor to certify sustainability performance of hydropower projects.

This five-day course will cover the HS Standard and associated guidelines and tools, exploring how they can be used to enhance the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of hydropower projects.

  • On successful completion of the course participants will:

    ✓ Gain a professional certificate and licence recognised by HSA and the hydropower sector

    ✓ Achieve comprehensive knowledge of the HS Standard and associated guidelines and tools

    ✓ Meet the requirements to become a Provisionally Accredited Assessor

    ✓ Possess the skills and competencies to prepare, execute and deliver official HS Standard assessments

    ✓ Understand the Code of Conduct for Accredited Assessors and the Terms & Conditions of Use

    ✓ Advertise your services on our website and join our network of assessors

  • The course is comprised of a structured training programme, group discussion, practical exercises and a final exam, all of which are designed to focus on issues commonly arising with hydropower projects

  • Applicants should have:

    • Language: Proficient knowledge of English

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

    • Work experience: at least six years of relevant experience

    • Appropriate auditing qualification or experience: certification on an IRCA-certified auditing course with sufficient content on ISO 19011 and/or 14001 (e.g. EMS Lead Auditor course) prior to training. In total, the applicant should have 40 hours of IRCA-certified training in EMS, health and safety or social auditing
