ANTONIO FONSECA DOS SANTOS
Antonio is a civil engineer with over 40 years of experience in environment and hydrology related to the hydropower, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. He holds a B.Sc. from Universidade Federal do Paraná, Brazil and a M.Sc. in Hydrology and Water Resources from Colorado State University, USA. During his time with Companhia Paranaense de Energia – COPEL Antonio was responsible for environmental and social licensing, and project management of several hydropower projects, this included the coordination and management of the environmental and social project for Salto Caxias Hydroelectric Power Plant (awarded the IHA ‘Blue Planet Awards for excellence in environmental management). His work as a social and environmental independent consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank – IDB and World Bank, involved in several projects in Brazil as part of the ‘Quality Management of Safeguards in Dam Projects’ program and the ‘Dams Planning and Management Action Plan’. Antonio has worked with Brookfield Renewable Energy Since 2004, reaching the position of Vice President for Environment and Sustainability (Latin America), he is currently the company ‘independent senior consultant’.
